October 17, 2011 from junior Sara Grunert

Hey everyone!  My name is Sara Grunert and I’m a junior psychology major from Chicago. I’m taking all of the science classes that I need so I can get in to chiropractic school to eventually become a chiropractor!

This week has been a busy, but great week for our team!  Lately we have been working on perfecting all of the great skills we have, but this week we took it to the next level.  Our team has started putting those skills together to practice our routines.  We were all pushed and encouraged by our coaches to do everything to the best of our abilities.  It was very tiring for everyone on the team, but we supported each other and made it an awesome week!  This is only the beginning of great routines that we will be competing this season!

On top of practice, our team was involved in some events outside of the gym.  First, some of our team had the opportunity to work our annual golf tournament fundraiser.  So thank you to all those involved in the golf tournament for the support!  Then all of our team volunteered at the United Way table at the Peterbilt Fair on Saturday.  It was a blast working at the booth and helping all the kids with putting on temporary tattoos!

This was also an important week because we voted for our team captain!  We did our voting a little different this year.  In order to give the people who are interested in becoming a captain a chance, we got to nominate ourselves.  So on Sunday at the end of practice, we had several great candidates tell the team why they believe they would make a good team captain.  Our votes were counted and on Tuesday we found out we will have co-captains this season.  Our new captains are two of our seniors, Rashonda Cannie and Marcella Fallon!  They are both great leaders and representatives of our team, so I think they will make awesome captains for this season.

I hope everyone has a great week and check back later for more Pioneer Posts!
