T-dub Fans!!!

Oh hey, everyone! I am Rashonda Cannie, known mostly as RO! And this year I am a senior. That’s right. I finally made it! Another great week for the Pioneers has been logged and I am here to tell you all about it. We’ll start with Tuesday when I am not exactly sure if any one checked the forecast but oddly enough there was an isolated snowstorm!! Yeah, I made that face too when I heard about it. But it goes to show that Texas weather can be just about as unpredictable as the Pioneers. ?

Moving right along into the gym, October (formally known as ROCKtober) is when we put in some of the hardest work we will do all season (in our opinion).  We are making the transfer from just having the skills to now putting them in combos that will eventually make up our routines. Bars had their first full sets on Friday and floor and beam will be starting theirs next week.  I am super excited to see how those go.

This weekend was big in Pioneer world as we had the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) soccer game on Friday, which just so happened to be their “Think Pink” game – a.k.a. one more reason for the gymnasts to go BIG because going home is NEVER an option.  We had pink from head to toe, a few hair ribbons, and a whole lot of body paint!!  We also participated in the national “Make a Difference Day” on Oct. 22nd and it was a great chance for all the student-athletes to mingle within the community and get to know more of the Denton residents through community service.  Although I was not personally able to volunteer (I am still recovering from having all my wisdom teeth removed on Friday), I am sure it was fun because if a gymnast was involved then good times come standard!

Keep your eyes peeled for next week’s post. This week we have “Boo @ the U” coming up (that’s TWU’s annual HUGE Halloween event where hundreds of kids in Denton come on campus for candy and fun).  TWU Gymnastics, Basketball and Softball are all part of the “trunk or treating” so we plan on giving out lots of candy.  We’ve also got skit night!! ?
