October 30, 2011 from sophomore Paisley Read

Hello Pioneer Gymnastics Fans!!

My name is Paisley Read. I am from Utah and I am a sophomore here at TWU. I am a Chemistry major and I plan on going to pharmacy school to be a pharmacist. Let me tell you about our past week! Boy was it crazy, and SUPER fun!

In the gym we had a recovery week, which is new for us. We did less turns but focused on the quality of our gymnastics in every turn we took. This really helped us to focus on the small details that will help our team be polished and ready to rock! We started floor and beam routines this week, and although they were the first floor and beam routines of the season, everyone looked confident and ready to take on the challenge, and they did amazingly well!

Sunday we got a little surprise….PUMPKIN PATCH!! This is a tradition each year where our coaches surprise us and instead of gym we get to go to a pumpkin patch as a team! Lisa, our head coach, surprised us this year by painting a pumpkin on her stomach. Everyone was so surprised! We had a great time. We fed farm animals, went on a hay ride, picked out pumpkins, and had a great opportunity to become more united as a team.

Thursday we had “Boo at the U,” which is a University event where we, along with other volunteers, pass out candy to little kids for Halloween. This is another great tradition that we have a lot of fun helping out with! We all dressed up (and looked super cute) and had a great time!

Also new this week is our team and individual roster pictures - make sure to go check them out!

Check back for a Pioneer Post about SKIT NIGHT and our surprise team field trip. Stay tuned to find out where we will be going!

Until then!
