Hello T-Dub gymnastics fans!! My name is Bethany Larimer. I am a junior from Carrollton, Texas. I transferred here last semester and I couldn’t be happier to be at TWU. Last season I competed on vault, bars and beam but I am hoping to compete all-around this year. I am a Kinesiology major. I am not quite sure what I want to do with the degree yet but I know that is the direction I want to go. There have been many great things that have been going on lately! Let me tell you about a few of them!
This last week in the gym was a mix of fun and lots of hard work. We started off the week with our traditional skit night. Each class came up with an original skit and performed it. The freshmen started things off for us. They perfectly portrayed a few of our team members and had us laughing so hard. Next up was our sophomores. Their skit was about our lovely toilet papering of our head coach’s house. Then it was the juniors’ turn. We did a game show type skit where we had a bachelor, four bachelorettes and a host. We made our four freshmen play the bachelorettes. Four of the juniors captured a few things about each one and it was really funny. At the end our “guest judge” had to pick a winner. Lastly, the seniors did funny impersonations of some of our past coaches and current teammates and we had to guess who they were. To top off the night while we were laughing our heads off we got to enjoy a lot of cookies that a few of the girls on the team had made.
After our fun skit night the coaches had a little surprise for us. We had no idea where we were going, but we drove and made it to our surprise destination. Our surprise was a fun night with the basketball team! We all had pizza and had a pumpkin carving competition!! We were all mixed up into different groups and each group had to come up with their own design. One group came up with a unique design of using the Adidas, Nike, and Under Armor symbols into making a face. This was a fun way to spend our Sunday night.
After all the fun we had on Sunday it was time to get back in the gym on Monday and work hard. This week was our first week to really do full sets on every event. It was a challenging week but with the help of all of the girls on the team and the encouragement from our coaches we made it through the week. We had a few bumps in the road this week but everyone is looking good and as a team I believe we are gonna rock this season!
Be sure to check back next week for more!!
