Hello Pioneer Fans!!
My name is Kristie Costa and I am a second year senior. Last season I was injured with a torn achilles and was not able to compete. The coaches gave me the opportunity to come back and be part of this amazing team for one more year! This year I will be working on bars and beam to try and help the team out any way I can on those two events. I am also a marketing major and will be graduating in May 2012!
I am so excited to be able to experience the family-like atmosphere and tradition again with everyone involved! So far this team has shown amazing cohesiveness and drive. We all came together for the first time at the annual Welcome Back barbeque (pictured below). We got to have a delicious meal and just sit and talk with everyone. It was nice to welcome the new freshmen and to get to know them and their families as well.
The next big item that was on our agenda was the start of classes. It is always an exciting time of the year to start school again and set goals that we would like to accomplish not only in the gym, but also in the classroom. I know that it will be a great semester for the gymnastics team academically! And of course, we all participated in the mile-and-a-half run test during the first week of school. I am so proud of how the team showed up that morning determined and ready to go! Therefore I would like to say congrats to all of the girls who passed including all four of our new freshmen - Cailee, Kayla, Stephanie and Spencer! Way to go, ladies!!
We just finished off our first full week of school with a morning of conditioning on Friday. Again, everyone was working so hard and efficiently that we had one of the best first conditioning days that I can ever remember. The coaches have put together a great program for us this year, and this first week is where it all started! I have nothing but high hopes and expectations for this team this year. I can already tell that we are going to have a great season, so make sure you check back and see how everything is going!
TWU Gymnastics 2012….HISTORY in the making!
