January 23, 2012 from Stephanie Repp

Hi, my name is Stephanie Repp, and I am freshman from Albuquerque, New Mexico. A little bit about me and my family: we are a gymnastics-oriented family. My dad was a competitive college student-athlete at the University of New Mexico where he was a four-time Western Athletic Conference (WAC) all-around champion, an all-American selection, one of the top ten athletes in the nation, and now a member of the UNM Hall of Fame.  My older brother was the national ring champion in 2008, an all-American on vault in 2009, and an all-Big Ten Team selection in 2011.  He is finishing up his last year at the University of Minnesota. My younger brother, who made the Level 10 regional team in 2008 and has an amazing double twisting double layout off of the high bar, is still in high school.  But he is ready to take his gymnastics to the collegiate level.  And, most importantly, my mother is my biggest fan and plans her whole schedule around all of my family’s competitions. It is mind-blowing to think that I get to carry on the family name in gymnastics.

TWU has become my home, and I am proud to let our fans know what has been going on this past week. The team had a black-out theme on Monday at practice; it was fun to see everybody’s idea of the color black.  In addition to enjoying some team fun, we have been pushing ourselves and each other to get a little better every day.  Our hard work is starting to pay off as we placed second with a 192.425 against Centenary, Oklahoma, and Utah State this past Saturday.  This competition was tough, but our team stayed positive and together the whole time, which made it easier to step out in front of the judges and show them exactly what the TWU gymnasts are made of.  Our next competition is on the road this Friday, January 27th, and Sunday, January 29th, against Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan. The team is continuing to work hard, and I am excited to see what these meets have in store for us.

Thanks so much for reading this post! Check in next week for more!
