GRADUATE ASSISTANT for OPERATIONS AND EVENT MANAGEMENT

2020-2021

Position. TWU Athletics seeks a qualified candidate for a graduate assistantship within the Operations and Event Management office. 

Eligibility. To receive a graduate assistantship, a student must show evidence of admission to the TWU Graduate School and acceptance into a University graduate program of her/his choice. The graduate student must be in good academic standing at TWU to hold a graduate assistantship. 

Conditions of Employment. This graduate assistantship is a standard nine-month appointment from August through May. The graduate assistant stipend is approximately $1,109 per month for a master’s candidate. Graduate assistants must pay the in-state tuition, but out-of-state tuition waivers are available if the student meets the appropriate academic standards.

Responsibilities

- Assist with the hiring, training, scheduling and monitoring of student workers.

- Assist with the setup and teardown of facilities for Athletics home contests and other events.

- Assist with the planning and implementation of game day promotional activities.

- Assist with ticket operations and concessions, including cash handling, credit card processing and inventory.

- Work cooperatively with personnel in the Athletics department, attend department meetings and activities, and always represent the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, club coaches, media and public.

- Commit to and be responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth by the University, the NCAA and the Lone Star Conference with the utmost integrity.

- Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Requirements

- Must be able to work irregular hours (evenings/weekends).

- Current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use is preferred at the time of hire, and will be required prior to working any home contests.

The Pioneers compete in the Lone Star Conference in basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball, and as an independent in gymnastics in the Midwest Independent Conference.
