Pioneer Hall was completed in the spring of 1997 and brought much-needed academic and athletic facilities to Texas Woman’s University. Builders broke ground on the $15.5 million project March 8, 1996. Several University programs utilize the building including the School of Health Promotion and Kinesiology, Dance, Conference Services, Fitness and Recreation, and Intercollegiate Athletics. In 2005, new lighting was installed in Magee Arena and in the summer of 2009, a brand new state-of-the-art floor was installed with a new paint scheme on the main court. The court was updated in 2019 to include the new athletic logo
Pioneer Hall contains 140,000 square feet of space on three floors. The multipurpose gymnasium, which was named Kitty Winter Magee Arena after the longtime women’s athletics pioneer, is on the ground level and has an initial bleacher seating capacity of 1,800 that can be increased to 2,700. Magee Arena is used as the competition site for the TWU volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, STUNT and wrestling programs. Additionally, intramural and recreational sports utilize the arena. A natatorium is also on the first floor. The pool width is sized to accommodate eight lanes of non-competitive swimming and six lanes of competitive swimming. TWU Artistic Swimming competes in the Pioneer Hall Pool.
The athletic training room and team locker rooms are located on the first floor as well. The remaining space houses classrooms, and seminar rooms. The laboratories - multimedia, research and teaching - have state-of-the-art technology.
The TWU Intercollegiate Athletics offices are located on the second floor along with the School of Health Promotion and Kinesiology. AdditionalÂ
classrooms, computer labs, academic offices, racquetball courts,Â
and a weight room are locatedÂ
throughout Pioneer Hall.  Two large dance/aerobics studios can be found on the third floor. Also, a one-tenth mile suspended track overlooks Kitty Magee Arena.
