Biography
AS A JUNIOR (2025)
As a junior, Poitras helped guide the Pioneers to another great season. She helped them to a season-opening win over UCLA. In the opening meet against UCLA, Poitras swam with Team Oakley, who placed second. At the second meet of the season against UIW and The Ohio State, Poitras and Team Oakley placed fifth. Then, after Team Oakley placed seventh at the MPSF Championships, TWU had a third place finish at the MPSF Championships. Then, Poitras and the Pioneers claimed their first South Regional title. At the South Regional competition, Poitras swam with Team Oakley, which placed second. Then, Poitras and the Pioneers closed the season at Collegiate Nationals and finished in fourth. Poitras swam with Team Oakley, which placed eighth at Collegiate Nationals. She was also named to the MPSF All-Academic Team for the second straight season.Â
AS A SOPHOMORE (2024)Â
In her second season with the Pioneers, Poitras helped lead the Pioneers to a historic finish at the 2024 U.S. Collegiate National Championships, as TWU placed third overall – their highest finish in program history. Then, she swam team with Schwickert, Candela Fidalgo Garcia, Regina Ramirez, Crichton, Maribella Falconer and Ashley Latchford, placing fifth - the highest placement in program history. For the first time, Poitras was named to the MPSF All-Academic Team. In the team’s opening meet of 2024, on Jan. 22 against Stanford, she swam team and placed fifth. Then, on Feb. 12, Poitras swam team and placed second, as the Pioneers defeated Ohio State. At the MPSF Championships on Feb. 19, Poitras helped guide the Pioneers to a third place finish. She swam team and placed fifth.
AS A FRESHMAN (2023)
In her debut as a Pioneer, Poitras was a part of a meet high score of 72.1000 points for the trios competition in their opener against Wheaton College (Mass.) on Jan. 28, while contributing to a new program high team score of 77.6000. Poitras then went on to place third and record a season high 73.5750 points the following week at the Jessica Beck Memorial Competition against Ohio State and Michigan. She was the top Pioneer finisher at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships in the A Competitions and also helped guide the team to a fourth place finish in the U.S. Collegiate Nationals.
PRIOR TO TWU
Kimberly Poitras, from Canada, competed in artistic swimming all four years of high school. She won a national title in artistic swimming in May 2022. She swam with Calgary Aquabelles. At TWU, Poitras will be studying Kinesiology/Pre-Physical Therapy.
