Butterworth, one of this year's tri-captains, hit second in the lineup in 1997... she led the Pioneers in runs scored (30), walks (20), sacrifice bunts (14), and total plate appearances (155 tied with Cathy Jacobson)... she was tapped 1st team All-Conference and Academic All-Conference with a 3.19 GPA... Butterworth has been selected the 1997 South Division Preseason Most Valuable Player... Prior to TWU, Butterworth lettered two years at UTA where she was also a scholar-athlete award winner... a 1993 graduate of Crosby High School, she lettered in softball all four years and basketball two years... in softball, she was 1st team all-district three years and voted team MVP four years... Butterworth was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students and graduated with honors.
