Sheila Sterling is an intensely focused player who has a great eye for the ball on offense and defense... very steady at first base, she led TWU in putouts (236), chances (252), and fielding double plays (7)... prior to TWU, Sterling graduated from Crosby High School in 1996 and lettered four years in softball and two years in basketball... in softball, she earned 1st team all-district honors each year and was named all-district freshman of the year... she was voted team captain twice... in basketball, Sterling was 1st team all-district her junior year... she won Senior Class Most Athletic and was chosen Channel 11 Scholar-Athlete of the Week... among her many scholastic honors, Sterling won the U.S. Army Academic and Athletic Excellence Award, the Tandy Technology Award for being in the top 2 percent of her class (she was fourth of 221), U.S. National Achievement Award in History, English, and Band, and the U.S. Navy Honors Award... she was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students... Sterling played club softball for the Texas Majestics in Houston for five years.
