The Official Website of the Texas Woman's University Pioneers
When the history books detail the evolution of the Pioneer Pride dance team at Texas Woman's University, Allison Fields will be the name known for where it all began.
Fields graduated from TWU in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance, before there was a dance team. After graduating, Fields became the Dance Teacher at Lake County Christian School, where she taught until 2011.
Next stop on the dance education ladder for Fields included a return to her alma mater—Poteet High School in Mesquite, Texas. At Poteet, she worked as the Pirates’ Drill Team Director and Dance Teacher from 2011 to 2016. In her time as a Pirate, Fields led her team to two Grand Champion titles—the first in the 2011-12 season and the second in 2013-14.
Then, Fields returned to TWU in August 2016 and created the Pioneer Pride team in 2017. She is currently in her sixth season of coaching the dance team. In addition to creating the Pioneer Pride, Fields also assisted in introducing Oakley the Owl to all Pioneer Athletic events.
In the 2021-22 season, the Pioneer Pride Dance Team competed in the team and jazz categories at the 2022 NDA Championships. PPDT tied for fourth in the team competition.Â
Currently, Fields is pursuing her Master of Education in Higher Education at the University of North Texas. She will earn her degree in May 2022.
Fields resides in Denton, Texas with her husband T.J. Fields, who teaches Geography and Psychology in the Wylie Independent School District. They have two children, Thomas and Kate.
