Biography

AS A JUNIOR (2023-24)
In her third year with the Pioneers, Patel helped guide the Pioneers to a historic, record-breaking season. During the 2023-24 season, the Pioneers claimed the LSC Regular Season Title and East Division Title for the second consecutive year. Then, they won the LSC Tournament Title for the second time in program history and first time since 2011. TWU finished with their highest regional ranking, one, and hosted the South Central Regional Tournament for the first time in program history, claiming the 2024 South Central Regional Tournament Title for the first time in program history. After TWU advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history, they made more history by closing the season as the 2024 National Runner-Up. During the season, TWU set numerous records: most wins (34), fewest losses (5), most points in a season (2,826), most assists (603), most field goals made (978), most field goals attempted (2,141), most free throws made (666), and most free throws attempted (858). They closed the season with their highest national ranking in program history at No. 2. Patel received her first All-LSC honor after being named to the All-LSC Second Team. She was also named to the South Central Regional Tournament All-Tournament Team. Over the season, Patel averaged the most minutes on the team per game (34.1), as she started every game for the Pioneers. She averaged 41.1% from the field on the season and ranked third on the team in three point percentage, shooting 34.2%. Patel ranked second on the team in points on the season with 531, as she averaged 13.6 points per game. She grabbed 153 rebounds, 67 assists, 31 steals and recorded 16 blocks on the season. Patel scored a career high 27 points on Feb. 25 at TAMIU. She grabbed a career high seven rebounds on March 27 against Ferris State. Patel dished out a career high four assists on March 16 against Adams St., recorded a career high two blocks on Feb. 22 against Angelo State, and she grabbed a career high three steals on March 8 against UAFS. 

 

AS A SOPHOMORE (2022-23)
Patel appeared in 14 games and played 179 minutes for the Pioneers. She helped the team set a new LSC Championships record with the highest three point percentage in a game, shooting 72.2% from the three in their semifinal win on March 4 over Lubbock Christian. Patel helped the team reach first ever back-to-back regional appearances, set the record for most wins (26), fewest losses (six), most consecutive wins (21) and the best start in program history (14-1). The Frisco native also helped guide the team to the highest national ranking in program history and highest South Central Regional Championships seed (two), and a LSC Regular Season Championship title and East Division Title. She scored a career high 11 points on 3-6 shooting from three on Jan. 26 against Oklahoma Christian. Patel finished with 69 points, 23 rebounds, and was named to the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

PRIOR TO TWU
In high school at Frisco Centennial, Patel was a four-year varsity basketball player. Patel was named the District Newcomer of the Year (2018). She earned All-State and All-District honors, while surpassing 1,000 total career points (2019). She was named her team's Offensive Most Valuable Player for the second time while also earning All-State and All-District honors for the second consecutive year (2020). Patel was named the District 9-5A Most Valuable Player, after averaging 20.5 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game (2021). Patel also played club basketball for Texas U on the Under Armour GUAA circuit. After high school career, Patel signed with The George Washington University, in Washington D.C. As a freshman with the Colonials, Patel started in one game and scored a season-high six points against The University of Rhode Island on January 12.
