Josh Nilson

Josh Nilson is in his second year as the Pioneers’ Assistant Gymnastics Coach.

He was named the 2012 USA Gymnastics and Midwest Independent Conference Assistant Coach of the Year after coaching the Pioneers' uneven bars team to a 48.440 season average.  Nilson also coached Courtney Cochefski to the 2012 USAG Collegiate national title on bars.

Nilson comes to TWU after spending the last six years at Utah State including three years as an assistant coach. He served as the student assistant for the previous three seasons with the Aggie gymnastics program.

Nilson, a Logan, Utah native, was a bars coach for the past two seasons at Utah State as well as helping out on the other events. He also coached at Logan Sports Academy and Racquet Club for three years and at USU Tytans gymnastics program for three years.  Nilson was a founder and a coach at Altius Gymnastics Academy in Logan for four month prior to joining TWU.

Nilson competed as a Level 10 gymnast for two seasons. He earned his bachelor’s degree in law and constitutional studies with a minor in family science from Utah State in 2010.

Nilson and his wife, Amanda Corn, live in Denton with their sons Tristan and Ezekiel.
