Jason McCown

McCown arrived in Denton for the 2017 season following a year at Olivet College in Michigan as an assistant coach for the Comets.
 
McCown arrived at Olivet from Bloomingdale, Ill., after filling several coaching roles at different age levels around Chicago. He spent the 2016 season as the junior varsity boys volleyball coach at Lake Park High School in Roselle, Ill., where his team had an overall record of 31-2 and finished second-place in the DuPage Valley Conference. In addition to his role as the JV coach, McCown served as an assistant coach for the varsity team, which compiled a 30-9 record on its way to the Elite 8 in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) playoffs. He also served as an assistant coach at Lake Park during the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
 
Additionally, McCown was an assistant coach for the girls volleyball team at Benet Academy in Lisle, Ill., during the 2015 season and helped the team compile an overall record of 37-3, losing in the Elite 8 of the IHSA Class 4A State Playoffs. McCown also served as an assistant coach for Benet during the 2010 season.
 
While earning his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Northern Illinois University, he volunteered as an assistant coach for the NIU women’s volleyball team for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. McCown has also coached at the club volleyball level as a coach for the boys’ program at Sports Performance Volleyball Club in Aurora, Ill., from 2009-2012.
 
McCown played six years of club volleyball for Illinois State University (2008), College of Dupage (2009-11) and NIU (2012-13).  At NIU, he was a two-time Midwest 10 All-Conference selection. While at DuPage, McCown helped his teams win back-to-back NCVF Division I-AA national championships (2010, 2011) and was a First-team NCVF All-Tournament selection.
