In the 2023-24 season, Miller went on to coach three qualifiers - Nari Miller, Livier Dubon, and Jerimiah Ferguson -Â for the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the second time in school history. She also coached three Pioneers who were named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) First Team Academic All-Conference.
In her first year as head coach for the TWU Wrestling program in the 2022-23 season, Miller led the Pioneers to a fourth place finish in their first NCWWC Regional Tournament and had five individuals qualify for the National Championships.
A native of Arlington, Texas, Miller was the first Black woman and Texan to win an Olympic medal (bronze) in women's wrestling. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Miller won a bronze medal. She was the only Black woman to win a medal in USA Wrestling until fellow Texan Tamyra Mensah-Stock won gold in 2021.Â
In 2014, Miller won a 2014 Military World Championship as a member of the 2014 U.S. World Team Member. She competed with the U.S. Senior National Team in 2008 and from 2012-16, earning the title of U.S. Senior National Champion in 2008 and 2014. A 10-time U.S. Senior Level All-America honoree and 2008 USA Wrestling female wrestler of the year, Miller brings experience, passion and incredible knowledge to a new Pioneer program.Â
Miller also brings years of collegiate coaching experience to TWU, serving stints at Missouri Baptist, MacMurray College and Limestone College as an assistant coach. She has also coached in a broader capacity, working as the South Carolina USA Wrestling Women's Director from 2018. Outside of college, Miller served in the U.S. Army National Guard in the World Class Athletic Program, a program designed to allow top-ranked soldier-athletes to perform at the international level while also serving their country in the military.
Before being hired at TWU, Miller was most recently working as the assistant coach on the 2021 Team USA Cadet World Team in Budapest, Hungary, as the team captured its first-ever freestyle team title on the strength of three individual championships. The team finished with seven total medals, three gold and four bronze. Every wrestler that made a medal match won their final bout.
