Soccer drops third straight 1-0 game in loss to Dallas Baptist

DENTON, Texas (Oct. 3) – The TWU soccer team lost its third consecutive game by a 1-0 score tonight against visiting Dallas Baptist in a non-conference match-up.  The Pioneers are now 7-5-1 on the season.

The lone goal of the game came in the 15th minute when DBU's Emilie MacDonald scored her fourth goal of the season on a cross from Ashley Cox.

Both teams traded shots and created opportunities but neither team found the net for the rest of the game.  Dallas Baptist had a slight advantage in shots, 13-12, over the Pioneers.

"In the first half we got little flustered by their pressure but played much better in the second half," said TWU head coach Babak Abouzar.  "We didn't get back defensively on the goal we gave up.  Against a team like DBU, we can't make a mistake like that.  The girls fought back and created some good scoring opportunities but we could not find the net."

Junior Ariana Morrison made six saves in the net for TWU.  Sophomore Natalia Diaz led the Pioneers with four shots while freshman Rachel Rupp came off the TWU bench and got off two shots, both on goal.  Senior Erin Bolinger and freshman Megan Coppedge also had two shots each for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers will return to action when they start their second half of the conference scheduled on Friday, Oct. 17.  TWU will host #8 Angelo State at 7:00 p.m. at TWU Soccer Field.
