The Lions got to the free-throw line six consecutive times in a span of 1:00 minute to make it 76-74. The Pioneers responded with five free throws of their own and grabbed a pair of offensive rebounds on missed free throws to seal the win.
"We really executed well on both ends," said TWU head coach
Beth Jillson. "We shot the ball well offensively and scored 48 points in the paint. Our game plan was to push on transition and if we didn't have anything we wanted to get the ball inside. We came out great in the third quarter after giving up the lead right before the half."
The Pioneers will return to action when they travel to Stephenville, TX, to face Tarleton State on Sunday, Jan. 17. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
