DENTON, Texas (Nov. 10, 2017) - Texas Woman's University took set one over West Texas A&M but were unable to provide the same effective offense for the remainder of the match in a 3-1 loss Friday night inside Kitty Magee Arena.

Maykayla Mayfield and
Miri Shade each registered a team-high 14 kills, and Shade added 13 digs for her eighth double-double on the season.
Caroline Noel tallied a career-high seven blocks, and
Bailey French led the match with 25 digs.

The Lady Buffs began the match with an ace, and the teams combined for nine straight kills in a 5-5 tie. A kill by Mayfield to the end line started a four-point run for a 21-15 TWU advantage. A kill down the middle by
Briley Cole-Lewis put the Pioneers at set point, 24-20, before WT climbed within a point, but Mayfield blasted a kill off a Lady Buff defender for the win.

Two kills by Mayfield tied set two at 7-all, but a 7-3 WT run placed the Pioneers at a 14-10 deficit. Kills by Cole-Lewis and
Courtney Noel cut the margin to 18-15 and another from
Caroline Noel made it 21-18. A pair of Lady Buff kills and TWU attack error concluded the set.

An ace off of the top of the tape by
Katy Ranes put the Pioneers ahead 9-7 in set three, but WT jumped ahead by three after five straight points. A block by
Caroline Noel and Mayfield handed the lead back to TWU at 13-12, but a 10-2 Lady Buff run put the visitors up 22-15. A kill by Shade brought the Pioneers to within five before WT took the set victory.

Kills by
Kerstin Jenkins and
Courtney Noel gave TWU a 9-6 advantage in the fourth set. Jenkins kept the Pioneers in front at 19-17 following an ace, but six straight points by the Lady Buffs gave WT a 23-19 lead.
Courtney Noel put a kill down the front of the Lady Buff blockers for a point, but WT then powered through for a final kill.
