Preview: Pioneers at Midwestern State and Cameron

DENTON, Texas (Jan. 17, 2018) - Texas Woman's University travels to Midwestern State Thursday for a 6 p.m. contest and then Cameron Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip.
 
About the Pioneers
TWU is looking to improve on their 2-2 LSC road record this week. Senior forward Alexis Nezianya leads the team with averages of 12.3 points and 8.8 boards to rank eighth in the Lone Star Conference in scoring and third in rebounding, as well as being tops in field goal percentage at .479 and seventh in blocks per game with 1.1. Junior guard KJ Stastny averages 8.2 points and is ranked fifth in the league in three-pointers per contest with 1.79, while junior guard Bri'anna Gray averages 8.9 points.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Feb. 25, 2017) - Emily Spector and Kenesha Saygo each scored in double digits to lead Texas Woman's University to a 56-51 victory over Midwestern State in their regular season finale Saturday inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Spector totaled a game-highs with 14 points and eight rebounds while Saygo recorded 12 points. TWU (18-10, 11-9 LSC) held the Mustangs (8-18, 5-15 LSC) to just 15 field goals, a defensive season-best, while the Pioneers made 19 from the field. TWU's defense also forced 23 Mustang turnovers that were converted into 20 points. Both teams struggled from the three-point line with TWU hitting 3-of-16 and MSU converting 2-of-8.

LAWTON, Okla. (Feb. 23, 2017) - Texas Woman's University trailed Cameron by 25 points in the third quarter before storming back to a 103-90 victory Thursday evening inside Aggie Gym led by 35 points from Kenesha Saygo to clinch the sixth spot in next week's Lone Star Conference tournament.
The 103 points is the most scored by TWU since the 2013-14 season when the Pioneers hung 107 on Texas A&M-Kingsville in a five-point win, and is the second-highest output in a game involving two LSC opponents this season. Saygo was one point shy of tying her career-high and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds. Saygo has now eclipsed the 30-point threshold three times within the last eight games. Alexis Nezianya logged 16 points and five blocks in 16 minutes, Grace Mitchell scored 16, and Bri'anna Gray tied a career-high with seven rebounds to go along with nine points.
