DENTON, Texas (Nov. 17, 2018) — Led by
Carissa Moody's double-double, Texas Woman's picked up its first victory of the season on Saturday night, defeating West Alabama 70-56 on Day 1 of the Hilton Garden Inn Pioneer Classic.

Beth Jillson said.
Trailing by seven at halftime, the Pioneers battled back. Riding the strong play of
London Archer and Moody, TWU outscored the Tigers 40-19 in the second half.
"I'm really proud of our team how we came out in the second half," head coach
Beth Jillson said. "We executed defensively and got some quick stops."
Moody logged 18 points and 11 rebounds as the Pioneers improved to 1-2 on the season.
"At the beginning of the game we weren't making a lot of our shots," Moody said. "But we kept shooting kept getting on the boards."
Archer fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Adding to the scoring were Bri'Anna Gray and
Alexus Dukes who each contributed 11 points apiece.
Tomorrow, the Pioneers will host Oklahoma Christian in the finale of the Pioneer Classic at 4 p.m. at Kitty Magee Arena.
