TAMPA, Florida (Dec. 18, 2018) — Following a 10-day layoff, Texas Woman's returned to the hardwood in the first game of the Tampa Classic on Tuesday, falling to the Spartans 63-46.
"We struggled to put the ball in the basket," head coach
Beth Jillson said following the game. "We couldn't dig ourselves out of an early hole."
An 11-0 run by the Spartans at the start of the game set the tone for the rest of the contest as the Pioneers were held to 30 percent shooting from the field.
Alexus Dukes carried the scoring load with a team-high 13 points, adding four rebounds and an assist in 30 minutes of play as
London Archer produced an efficient six points on 3-of-7 shooting and six rebounds.
Bri'Anna Gray added 10 points while
Macy Wilkerson contributed nine points and six boards as the Pioneers fall to 5-4 on the season.
"We have a quick turnaround against another good team that's coming off a big win," Jillson said. "We will learn from it and be ready for another great opportunity tomorrow."
The Pioneers will take on Florida Tech tomorrow at 12 p.m. CT.
