Preview: Pioneers at Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State

DENTON, Texas (Feb. 14, 2018) - Texas Woman's University travels to Texas A&M-Commerce Thursday for a 7 p.m. contest and then to Tarleton State Saturday for a 2 p.m. game.
 
About the Pioneers (9-13, 6-10 LSC)
TWU currently has a hold on the eighth and final spot in the Lone Star Conference tournament with four regular season games remaining. The Pioneers sit two games ahead of UT Permian Basin and two games behind Cameron. Senior forward Alexis Nezianya leads the team with averages of 12.0 points and 8.5 boards to rank 14th in the LSC in scoring and fifth in rebounding, as well as being tops in field goal percentage at .478 and fourth in blocks per game with 1.4. Junior guard Bri'anna Gray averages 10.1 points, while senior forward Whitney Apari totals 9.1 ppg. Junior guard KJ Stastny averages 8.7 points and is ranked seventh in the league in three-pointers made per contest with 1.5.

KJ Stastny recorded a game-high 23 points for TWU (6-7, 3-4 LSC), while Alexis Nezianya added 17 and Bri'anna Gray had 14. The Pioneers were outrebounded by the Lions (10-5, 6-1 LSC) 50-to-34 throughout the contest.

DENTON, Texas (Jan. 11, 2018) - Ma'K'La Woods of Texas Woman's University tallied a career-high 13 points while Bri'anna Gray grabbed a career and game-high 14 rebounds as the Pioneers built a 10-point lead over Tarleton State in the first half, but TWU was upended by the TexAnns in a 71-67 loss Thursday afternoon inside Kitty Magee Arena.
Four Pioneers notched double-figures, led by the team-high from Woods and 12 points apiece from KJ Stastny, Alexis Nezianya and Whitney Apari. TWU (6-7, 3-4 LSC) outrebounded TSU (10-6, 4-4 LSC) 46-to-33 and outscored the visitors in the paint by 20 but committed 19 turnovers compared to 11 by the TexAnns.
