PORTALES, N.M. (March 16, 2018) - Texas Woman's University recorded a pair of wins at Eastern New Mexico Friday evening at Greyhound Softball Field.

Marisa Arriaga, and
Melanie Stephens each produced a single in the top of the second to score pinch runner
Avery Williams for the first run of the day, and a sacrifice fly by
Lindy Kennedy put the Pioneers up 2-0.

The Greyhounds (13-15, 6-8 LSC) evened things up in the bottom of the third with a home run to center field and a walk with the bases loaded.

A two-run homer by
Tylia Sylestine in the fourth gave TWU (17-10, 7-4 LSC) a 4-2 advantage before ENMU answered with a sacrifice fly and a single brought around the tying run.
Â
Jordan Kisselburg delivered a home run to center field for the winning run in the top of the seventh, and three straight ENMU outs concluded the contest.

Walker (7-7) earned the win on zero runs with four strikeouts and a walk.

Sylestine doubled down the left field line for the initial hit of game two in the first inning, but a pair of Pioneer outs ended the frame. A walk to Walker and back-to-back bunts by
Cheyenne Mahy and
Erin Mosely loaded the bases before a pair of fly outs finished the inning.

The Greyhounds placed runners on third and first in the second, but the Pioneers rung up a double play to end the inning. Kennedy led off the third with a bunt single, and Sylestine singled through the left side before both runners advanced on the throw. A sacrifice bunt by
Hazel Puempel scored Kennedy for a 1-0 advantage.

A Pioneer throwing error in the bottom of the third allowed the tying run for ENMU. With two outs on the board in the fifth, Sylestine took a walk and
Tara Solomon came in as a pinch runner to steal second. A single to center field by Kisselburg brought in Solomon, and Puempel sent one over right field for a 4-1 lead.

In the top of the seventh, Puempel singled to left field while a Greyhound error allowed Sylestine to score. An RBI single from Walker brought Puempel around to increase the margin to 6-1.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, a Greyhound grand slam brought ENMU to within a single run. A pair of singles placed the winning run on first, but Mahy gained the final out on a strikeout to tally the save.

Walker (8-7) took the win with four earned runs on 10 hits, five strikeouts and three walks.

The Pioneers and Greyhounds conclude the series Saturday with a 1 p.m. game.
