ODESSA, Texas (April 20, 2018) -
Raegyn Parrish pitched the first shutout of her Texas Woman's University career while also adding her first hits as a Pioneer to lead TWU to a 4-0 win in the second game against UT Permian Basin following a 10-2 Pioneer victory in game one Friday at UTPB Park.

Jordan Kisselburg registered the first hit of the series with double to right field to push
Tara Solomon to third who made it on base by way of a Falcon throwing error. A single by
Tylia Sylestine to center field scored the two runners for a 2-0 TWU (24-17, 12-11 LSC) advantage in the first.

Cheyenne Mahy sent a double to left field in the top of the second, and
MaKayla Cook took a walk.
Hazel Puempel brought Mahy in before Kisselburg blasted a homer to right center to put the Pioneers up, 6-0.

In the top of the third,
Abby Walker and Mahy were hit by pitches in consecutive at-bats. A sacrifice fly by Cook then advanced pinch runner
Melanie Stephens to third, and Mahy stole second. Puempel singled to center for two more runs and an 8-0 TWU lead.

UTPB (16-32, 4-22 LSC) got on the board in the bottom of the third with back-to-back RBI. Sylestine recorded a home run in the next inning for a 9-2 advantage, and a sacrifice fly by
Erin Mosely added the final run in the 10-2 TWU victory.

Mahy (11-6) registered the win with a walk and three strikeouts.

The Falcons placed runners in scoring position in the first and second inning, but the Pioneer defense thwarted both opportunities. In the top of the third, Parrish recorded her first hit as a Pioneer with a double to right field.
Avery Williams singled to the pitcher as pinch runner
Kenzie Wilson advanced to third. Williams then stole second, and Puempel doubled to left center to score the runners for a 2-0 advantage.

Parrish notched another hit with a single to center in the fifth before making it to second on a UTPB throwing error as Puempel reached on a fielder's choice. Solomon also made it to first on a fielder's choice as Puempel advanced to second, but Parrish was caught out at third. A double by Kisselburg to left center scored Solomon and Puempel for a pair of runs for the 4-0 Pioneer lead, as neither team recorded another hit throughout the remainder of the game.

Parrish (2-2) garnered the shutout victory with two walks and two strikeouts.

Genny Stidham said, "In spite of the crazy wind, I was very proud of our play. There was good pitching by Mahy and Parrish, and the defense made some great plays. We hit well with runners in scoring position, and I'm very proud of our execution."
