STEPHENVILLE, Texas (April 8, 2018) - A walk-off single prevented Texas Woman's University from recording a win at No. 18 Tarleton State in a 5-4 game two defeat after the Pioneers dropped the first contest, 11-0, Sunday at TSU Softball Complex.

The TexAnns (37-7, 17-7 LSC) reeled off their first two scores in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer to left field. In the second,
Jordan Kisselburg took a walk before
Lindy Kennedy pushed her to second on a sacrifice bunt, but Kisselburg was caught stealing third to end the inning.

TSU reeled off seven runs in the bottom of the frame, including two home runs that accounted for four scores. A single and double added the other three for a 9-0 TexAnn lead.

In the bottom of the third, three wild pitches assisted with another Tarleton State run, and another led to a score in the fourth to extend the margin to 11-0. Kennedy recorded the lone TWU (21-15, 9-9 LSC) hit in the contest with a single to right field in the fifth, but she was left stranded after three consecutive outs.

Abby Walker (11-8) suffered the loss with six earned runs on two strikeouts and a walk.

Hazel Puempel knocked a home run over center field to score
Tylia Sylestine for a 2-0 TWU advantage in the first. Walker added another homer in the second inning to put the Pioneers up 3-0.

Puempel singled to right field in the third and made it to second by way of a TexAnn error. Kennedy singled to right field to score Puempel for a 4-0 advantage.

The TexAnns lessened the deficit with a single run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to pull within 4-3. In the bottom of the seventh, Tarleton placed runners on first and second by way of a single and bunt before a sacrifice bunt moved them to second and third. A single up the middle brought the runners in for the walk-off win.

Cheyenne Mahy (9-5) took the loss with four earned runs on two strikeouts and two walks.
