AUSTIN, Texas (June 13, 2018) - Two Texas Woman's University Gymnastics student-athletes were selected to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II Women's At-Large teams, the first time in the program's era more than one gymnast has been honored in the same year, as
Erin Alderman received top distinction as a First Team selection, and
Schyler Jones notched Second Team accolades.
This is Alderman's second Academic All-American nod as she earned Third Team honors in 2017 to become the third two-time Pioneer recipient. The Fair Oaks, California, native graduated this spring Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Communication Science with emphasis in Speech/Language Pathology with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Alderman secured First Team All-America honors on balance beam this season as a member of the 2018 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship team.
Jones, an Interdisciplinary Studies major with a 3.81 GPA, tallied four individual titles during this year's USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships. The senior from Denton became the first gymnast since 2012 to receive four first-place honors at the finals to lead the Pioneers to a consecutive national title. Jones also tied a Pioneer record with four titles, a feat only done once before by Kim Koenig in 1999.
Thirty-five (23 women, 12 men) student-athletes on the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II At-Large Teams have a 4.00 GPA.
