DENTON, Texas (April 28, 2026) - After leading the Pioneers to their 14th national title, the Texas Woman's gymnastics coaching staff has been named the 2026 College Gym News Women's Collegiate Gymnastics National Invitational Championship (WCGNIC) Coaching Staff of the Year for the second consecutive season.

According to College Gym News, the criteria for the award state that "nominees first and foremost coached their WCGNIC-eligible team to athletic success, whether that means significant improvement over past seasons or record-breaking performances."

The finalists for the award included Fisk, SEMO and TWU.

Members of the College Gym News staff submitted nominations for the annual awards, with editors selecting the winners.

"Texas Woman's delivered clarity and dominance in a year full of change and questions for the WCGNIC," the College Gym News staff said. "The 12-time USAG national champion added another title to its collection by winning the inaugural WCGNIC championship. Even more impressively, TWU remained in the conversation for a regionals berth deep into the season—an uncommon and extraordinary feat for a Division II program. The team's focus and polish were a testament to its coaching staff's expertise."

The TWU coaching staff also earned 2026 WCGA Division II Coaching Staff of the Year honors, while Zan Jones was named Midwest Independent Conference Assistant Coach of the Year.
