DENTON (Jan. 19, 2019) — A career-high 25 points from freshman Macy Wilkerson catapulted Texas Woman's to a 72-70 victory over Cameron on Saturday at Kitty Magee Arena.

"She has a high basketball IQ," coach Beth Jillson said of Wilkerson's performance. "I'm very comfortable with the ball in her hands."

Wilkerson finished the game with 8-of-15 shooting from the field as she scored nine points in overtime, including the game-winning layup with six seconds left.

"I knew on the last play that she would come off the ball screen and make a good decision," Jillson said. "I wanted her to be aggressive and get to the rim."

"Coach drew up a play," Wilkerson said of the game-winner. "She told me to get the ball at the three-point line and just hold it until 10 seconds left, have Kam (Daily) come set a screen for me and go take it in."

London Archer and Carissa Moody each posted double doubles before fouling out. Archer logged 15 points and 11 rebounds while Moody added 15 points and 10 boards.

"I saw a lot of courage, a lot of guts and a lot of resiliency," Jillson added. "Just so proud of our team, how we overcame adversity and the execution on both ends of the floor.

Key contributions from Ma'K'La Woods and Ajine Taylor helped the Pioneers snap a seven-game losing streak. Woods scored six points while grabbing four rebounds in 23 minutes of action while Taylor picked up six points and drew a key offensive foul down the stretch of the ball game.

"Ajine came into the game and handled the pressure well and hit some clutch threes," Jillson said. "Can't say enough of how everyone stepped up and played together.

KJ Stastny provided key minutes, logging a team-high four assists to go along with eight rebounds. Her three-pointer, four feet beyond the arc, at the buzzer to end the third gave the Pioneers a one-point edge.

"We showed toughness tonight," she added. "This will give us momentum going into another long road stretch."

Texas Woman's will head back to the road for a four-game road trip, beginning on Thursday when it visits Eastern New Mexico.
