CANYON, Texas (Jan. 26, 2019) — Texas Woman's visited the No. 14-ranked team in the nation on Saturday, falling to West Texas A&M, 80-63.
"We battled for three quarters but struggled to finish down the stretch," head coach
Beth Jillson said. "We went into the locker room at halftime with the lead behind a great team defensive effort."
The Pioneers took a one-point lead into halftime, 35-34, finishing the game by shooting 51 percent from the field – their best shooting percentage of the year.
Freshman
Macy Wilkerson logged a team-high 16 points, including four three-pointers while Ma'k'la Woods added 14 points on 70 percent shooting from the field.
"I thought we shared the ball well, found open gaps," Jillson said. "and worked for high-percentage shots."
Carissa Moody fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds as
KJ Stastny posted 11 points, four assists and two boards.
Next for the Pioneers will be a visit to conference-foe UT-Permian Basin on Thursday with tip-off slated for 5:30 p.m.
