ODESSA, Texas (Jan. 31, 2019) —
Carissa Moody's 10th double-double of the season helped propel Texas Woman's past UT Permian Basin, 62-59, on Thursday night.
"Carissa was huge on the boards, helping us outrebound our opponent," head coach
Beth Jillson said.
Moody finished the game with 13 points and 15 rebounds as
Macy Wilkerson poured in a team-high 15 points in addition to seven boards. Despite their exploits, the Falcons kept close, taking the lead with 6:11 left in the fourth quarter.
"Our players responded well," Jillson said. "(They) stayed poised with some key stops down the stretch and clutch free throws by KJ (Stastny)."
Stastny produced a strong statline with 10 points, six boards and four assists while
Kam Daily contributed nine points off the bench.
"Kam was a huge spark off the bench," Jillson added. "This was a great collective team effort on the road."
Next, the Pioneers will travel to Western New Mexico on Saturday to face the Mustangs at 1 p.m.
