WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Feb. 23, 2019) — Texas Woman's Hoops wrapped up the road portion of the 2018-2019 season on Saturday when they visited MSU Texas, falling to the Mustangs 72-62.
"We had a slow start and struggled to score in the first quarter," head coach
Beth Jillson said. "We battled back in the second half, but some defensive breakdowns really hurt us."
Trailing by 12 entering the fourth quarter, the Pioneers jumped out to a 6-0 run to cut the Mustang lead in half. But that would be as close as they would get as Texas Woman's fell to MSU Texas for the second time this season.
The Pioneers were led by Mi'K'La Woods who posted 13 points and seven rebounds.
KJ Stastny poured in 13 points of her own while dishing out three assists.
London Archer and
Carissa Moody scored double figures as well, with Moody posting 12 points and six rebounds and Archer tallying 11 points and five rebounds.
"We will go back to work," Jillson added. "We'll be ready to put four quarters together in our last two regular season games."
TWU will return home for the final two games of the regular season, beginning on Thursday when they host West Texas A&M at 7 p.m.
