WICHITA FALLS, Texas (March 22, 2019) —
Paige Tamayo's 3-for-3 day at the plate, including a pair of two-run homers, fueled Texas Woman's to a 6-2 victory over MSU Texas on Friday afternoon.
"It was fun to watch Paige at the plate today," head coach
Amber Barker said. "She was definitely locked in and it showed."
The scoring began in the third inning when Tamayo blasted a two-run homer to left center field, giving the Pioneers the 2-0 lead.
A
Taylor Goulet homer followed by an RBI single to center field by
Tara Solomon in the sixth inning, doubled the Pioneer advantage. An inning later, Tamayo would deliver her fourth homer of the season, driving in another two-run blast that pushed the lead to six runs.
"We knew what we needed to do to be successful," Barker added. "We hit the ball and hit pitches in our zone well."
Bailey Turner tossed her second complete game in four starts, holding the Mustangs scoreless through the first 6.1 innings, collecting four strikeouts.
The Pioneers will return home next Friday to host UT-Permian Basin, beginning with a doubleheader at 4 p.m.
