OKLAHOMA CITY (March 8, 2019) — On Friday, Texas Woman's dropped its non conference doubleheader to Oklahoma Christian.
After being shutout in the opening game, 6-0, the Pioneers struck for four runs in the final two innings of Game 2, falling short 6-4.
Paige Tamayo sparked the Rattlers with a three-run home run in the sixth inning to bring the Pioneers within two runs. She would finish the game going 2-for-4 at the plate while
Tylia Sylestine,
Krista Cuevas and
Alexis Elizondo each recorded a base hit.
In the circle,
Britney Hitt produced 1.2 quality innings in the circle, allowing only one run on a hit, forcing four flyouts and one ground out.
"She hasn't had a lot of innings this year so far," head coach
Amber Barker said. "She came in and did what we asked her to do. I'm proud of her."
This came after Hitt posted a strong outing in Game 1, tossing four innings allowing only one run on one hit and striking out two batters.
In that ballgame, the Pioneers were held to just five hits with Tamayo once again as the only player to register multiple hits.
With the next pair of games against Missouri Western State cancelled due to weather, the Pioneers will return to action on Friday when they return home to face Tarleton State in Lone Star Conference action.
