CANYON, Texas (April 18, 2019) — "We came out ready to play and attack today," head coach
Amber Barker said after Texas Woman's dropped an eight-inning affair against No. 6 West Texas A&M, falling to the Lady Buffs 3-2.
"Our mindset and our energy were where they needed to be," Barker added. "We certainly had our opportunities, just didn't capitalize when we needed it the most."
After conceding a run in the first inning, the Pioneers struck in the third inning on a
Jordan Kisselburg double to right field that scored
Paige Tamayo and
Tylia Sylestine.
In the circle,
Bailey Turner kept the Lady Buffs off the board for five-straight innings before surrendering the game-tying run with one out in the bottom of the seventh. She would finish the game with five strikeouts.
"We talked about leaving it all out on the field," Barker added. "Our players are hungry and I'm interested to see how this fuels them."
The Pioneers will wrap up the final road series of the season tomorrow with a doubleheader against the Lady Buffs beginning at 1 p.m.
