Pioneers shine in classroom with record-breaking spring semester

DENTON — TWU Athletics has posted its best semester in the classroom it was announced after the spring 2019 grades were finalized this week.
 
All five teams combined for a GPA of 3.601, the department's highest all time, surpassing the previous record set in the fall of 2018. This extends the department's streak of 74 consecutive semesters (37 years) of posting a 3.0 or higher.
 
A record 30 student-athletes posted a GPA of 4.00, breaking the school record set in Fall of 2016. Over 35 percent of the Soccer roster posted a perfect 4.00 GPA, besting the school and team record set in Fall 2013 with a total of 10 student-athletes earning a 4.00 GPA with Gymnastics accounting for eight and Basketball, Softball and Volleyball each contributing four student-athletes.
 
Leading the way was Gymnastics with a 3.676 overall team GPA. Close behind was Basketball posting a record setting 3.623 GPA, the highest in program history, as all five teams posted better than a 3.50 GPA. Volleyball earned a 3.622 GPA with Soccer logging a 3.582 and Softball rounding out the grades with a 3.503.
