Addison Mulroney turned in a 38-kill performance, while
Bailey Wozniak dished out 38 assists, and
Yanely Pabon turned in a 21-dig afternoon, but the Texas Woman's University volleyball team (8-14, 3-8 Lone Star Conference) dropped a 3-1 decision to Dallas Baptist (10-4, 7-4) on Saturday afternoon inside Kitty Magee Arena.
The Pioneers won the opening set 25-22, but DBU came back with 25-20, 25-20, and 25-15 victories to close out the match.
DBU edged ahead 9-6 in the opening set but the Pioneers came back, reclaiming the lead at 19-18 after a 5-0 run. DBU briefly reclaimed the lead and went ahead 22-20, but TWU scored the final five points of the set to take a 25-20 victory.
In a back-and-forth second set, the Pioneers pulled ahead 16-11 but DBU reeled off 10 of the next 11 points to claim a 21-17 advantage, and held on to claim the set 25-20.
Set three followed much the same script with the two teams going back-and-forth until DBU scored six of seven points to turn a 16-15 TWU lead into a 21-17 DBU advantage, and DBU held on for their second consecutive 25-20 set victory. DBU controlled the tempo in the final set to take a 25-15 victory.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, October 29, traveling to Tyler, Texas for a 6 p.m. matchup with UT Tyler.
