TYLER, Texas -
Bailey Wozniak turned in a 32-assist performance to eclipse the 1,000 assist mark for her career, while
Addison Mulroney narrowly missed a double-double with a 14-assist, eight-dig performance, but the Texas Woman's University volleyball team (8-15, 3-9 Lone Star Conference) was unable to overcome the offensive firepower of the No. 15 UT Tyler Patriots (16-1, 12-1) on Friday night, falling 3-1 at the Herrington Patriot Center.
After UT Tyler won the opening set 25-23, the Pioneers came back to knot the match with a 25-19 win in set two; however, UT Tyler closed out the match with 25-19 wins in sets three and four.
"I'm really proud of how our team is progressing and learning to compete against the top of our conference," said head coach
Jeff Huebner. "We had our chances tonight because of the mental and emotional toughness brought by our whole program. There are many terrific box scores tonight, and I was particularly happy with the blocking we did against the number two efficiency team in the league."
"The big story is
Bailey Wozniak reaching 1000 assists," added Huebner. "She puts in the work every day and has incredible trust across her team. Tonight especially she put our hitters in a good position for success as we outhit Tyler throughout the match. Our staff is very grateful for the opportunity to coach Bailey."
