SAN ANGELO, Texas (Nov. 27, 2021) –
Ashley Ingram scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, marking her second double-digit scoring performance of the season, but Texas Woman's University fell to Harding University, 64-56, in their final game of the Angelo State Thanksgiving Tournament.
TWU's (4-2) loss to Harding (4-1) on Saturday afternoon stands as just the second loss for the Pioneers in 2021. The Pioneers also closed their non-conference schedule against Harding, going 4-2 in non-conference games, before starting Lone Star Conference action Dec. 2.
Throughout the game, the Pioneers lead for the majority of play clock. TWU won the first two quarters and headed into halftime with a seven-point lead, 34-27.
Halftime reignited TWU and they pushed the lead throughout the third as well, outscoring the Bisons 13-12 in the third quarter.
However, the fourth quarter proved to be the Pioneers stumbling block. Their first basket of the fourth quarter came with 4:13 seconds left on the clock, when
Keslyn King hit a jumper.
The rest of the quarter would be all Bisons, as the Pioneers were outscored 25-9 to close the game.
Three Pioneers scored in double digits in the contest, including Ingram.
Sadie Moyer finished with 10 points to stretch her double-digit points streak to six games. King added 11 points and four rebounds.
Agang Tac helped the Pioneers win the rebound battle, 38-35. She grabbed six rebounds in 14 minutes of play.
Ma'K'La Woods secured five rebounds to push her career total to 406, just 26 shy of moving into number 10 on the TWU all-time rebounds list.
In nine chances at the free throw line, the Pioneers connected on all nine to shoot 100% from the charity stripe.
Next week, TWU begins their mandated nonconference games with conference opponents against the University of Arkansas- Fort Smith on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m. in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
