DENTON, Texas - Taylor Goulet turned in a four-hit afternoon, while Jalee McDonald and Paige Tamayo both had two-hit games, as the Texas Woman's University softball team (6-23, 5-19 Lone Star Conference) dropped both ends of a twinbill to West Texas A&M (26-10, 14-10), falling 11-1 in the opener and 9-2 in the finale. 

Alexys Ginegaw drove in TWU's lone run in the fourth inning, using an RBI single to plate Tamayo. The Lady Buffs jumped ahead with a four-run first and while the game was close going into the final innings with the Pioneers trailing by four (5-1) after six, WT pulled away with a big seventh inning.

Tamayo and Goulet had four hits apiece in the loss, while Kelsie Briggs took the loss after working 6.2 innings. 

WT jumped ahead with a two-run first inning, but the Pioneers quickly evened the score in the bottom of the frame using a sacrifice fly by Tamayo and an RBI double by McDonald. The Lady Buffs broke the tie in the third and pulled away, using a four-run sixth inning to pad the advantage. 

McDonald went the distance in the circle for TWU. Goulet and McDonald had two hits apiece in the loss. 

The Pioneers hit the road this coming weekend for the final road trip of the 2021 season, facing Texas A&M International on Friday at noon and Texas A&M-Kingsville on Sunday at noon.
