MASONER, SIMIEN SCORE TWO, JACINTO POSTS FIFTH SHUTOUT AS TWU DOWNS OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN

DENTON, Texas - Alyssa Simien and Hayley Masoner both scored a pair of goals, while Alex Jacinto turned in her fifth shutout of the season as the Texas Woman's University soccer team (5-1-2, 2-1-0 Lone Star Conference) turned in a 4-0 win over Oklahoma Christian (1-4-1, 1-1-1) on Wednesday evening at the Pioneer Soccer Park.

"After struggling the last game to find the back of the net our team showed a lot of resiliency and did a great job of creating and finishing opportunities," said head coach Babak Abouzar. "I feel this past Monday was our best practice this season in terms of our team receiving information and applying it so quickly. Anytime you can score 4 goals in a conference game you know your team is firing on all cylinders. We will enjoy this win and get ready for the road against TAMIU."

By the 24th minute, the scoreless tie was already gone as the Pioneers lived life in the fast lane early, jumping on the board first with a pair of rapid fire goals, as Keely Chapman fed Simien for the first goal of the contest; and just 20 seconds later, Simien put through her second goal to give TWU a quick 2-0 advantage.

In the second half, Masoner scored goals in the 69th and 85th minutes to push the Pioneers' advantage to 4-0.

The Pioneers kept the pressure on the Eagles during the entire game, as TWU was able to take it to the limit with a 17-4 shot advantage, including an 8-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Pioneers also held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.

TWU returns to action this Saturday, traveling to Laredo, Texas for a noon matchup at Texas A&M International.
