COMMERCE, Texas (Feb. 21, 2022) – In their final week of regular season action, the Texas Woman's University basketball team begins their three-game week against Texas A&M University – Commerce on Tuesday, Feb. 22.
TWU (17-7, 10-3 Lone Star Conference) currently sits in fourth place in the LSC. Last week, they went 1-1, losing to Texas A&M International University and defeating Texas A&M University – Kingsville.
No. 8 TAMUC (22-2, 10-2) is second in the LSC. Last week, they beat St. Edward's University and St. Mary's University.
The Pioneers and the Lions have already met once this season in nonconference action on Dec. 13 in Kitty Magee Arena. The Pioneers narrowly lost the game by three points.

PIONEER POWER
- COMPLETE GAME: In the last meeting between the two teams, the Pioneers lost the game by just three points. TAMUC played a consistent four quarters in terms of point total. TWU played a strong three quarters; however, in the first quarter, the Pioneers only scored nine points to the Lions 15. TWU will have to play four complete quarters to get the win on Tuesday night.
- CRASH THE GLASS: TAMUC leads the LSC in combined team rebounds. In their first meeting, the Pioneers were out-rebounded by the Lions 33-27. TWU will have to crash the glass and out-rebound the Lions to get the win.
- POINTS IN THE PAINT: In one of their two losses this season, a big disparity on the box score for TAMUC was the points in the paint column. The Pioneers scored 32 points in the paint against TAMUC in their first meeting, and the Lions scored 26. The battle in the paint will be critical for the Pioneers in the game on Tuesday night.
