RETURN TO THE W COLUMN
- LAST MEETING: The Pioneers and the Mustangs already met once this season in a nonconference match-up in Denton, Texas. MSU won the first meeting 83-76 on Jan. 20. The biggest advantage for MSU was their 3-point shooting. The Mustangs shot 46.7% from behind the arc, compared to TWU's 20%. The Pioneers also struggled to control the ball, finishing with 20 turnovers for 22 Mustang points.
- FLEX POINTS: Although TWU lost the game on Jan. 20, they won two important categories, which would be key in helping them win on Tuesday night. The Pioneers won the points in the paint battle (38-32) and the rebound battle (42-39). In this game, Ashley Ingram scored 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Ma'K'La Woods scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. The Pioneers post play in the paint will be a vital component of TWU's game on Tuesday night.
- TEAM T-DUB: Last week, the Pioneers showcased a diversified box score, with different players making impacts. Against the Mustangs, TWU only had eight bench points to MSU's 16 bench points. Every Pioneer will look to make an impact on Tuesday night.
- PIONEER PRESSURE: Another stat in which TWU led in the game against MSU was fast break points, 13-7. The Pioneers fast breaks are typically initiated by deflections and steals, so they will need to defend well and try to jump in the Mustangs' passing lane. TWU will also look to flip the script and force more turnovers from MSU, while limiting their own turnovers.
