DENTON, Texas (June 7, 2022) – As the Texas Woman's University volleyball program looks to continue to build and be a contender in the Lone Star Conference,
Jeff Huebner announced the Pioneers 2022 schedule.
TWU will kick off its competition season on August 25-26 with a tournament hosted by Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. During the Thursday and Friday tournament slate, the Pioneers will play Belmont Abbey College, Mississippi College, Union and the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Following their opening road tournament, the Pioneers will return home to Kitty Magee Arena for Denton Volleyfest, a non-conference tournament, on September 2-3. TWU, in their home stand weekend, will compete against Missouri Southern State University, Fort Hays State University, Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Ouachita Baptist University.
The Pioneers host back-to-back tournaments in KMA prior to Lone Star Conference action.
Following Denton Volleyfest, TWU will host an LSC Crossover, playing conference teams in non-conference action. On September 8-10, the Pioneers will play Texas A&M International University, Western New Mexico University, Cameron University and Midwestern State University.
"We are excited to announce our Fall 2022 schedule," Huebner said. "Starting tournament season with a fantastic trip out to Tennessee, then hosting back-to-back-to-back weekends means KMA is going to be rocking. Playing at home in Pioneer Hall is an advantage that we love because of all fans, from families to campus organizations and the Denton Community."
After wrapping up the preseason tournament schedule, the Pioneers will kick off LSC matches in KMA on September 16 against St. Mary's University. They remain home for two more LSC matches, playing St. Edward's University on September 17 and Angelo State University on September 21.
"As we head into Lone Star Conference play, we are looking forward to the sharpening that comes with playing in the LSC," Huebner said. "Not many leagues compete at the level of the LSC, and if you can win in our league, you can win nationally. After Spring 2022 and the commitment to our standards, our program is ready to compete at the highest level."
TWU will go on the road to Odessa, Texas to play the University of Texas Permian Basin on September 24. Following that match, they will go to Portales, New Mexico on September 28 to compete against Eastern New Mexico University. Before returning home, the Pioneers will play Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, Texas on October 5.
