DENTON, Texas (August 16, 2022) – Mikayla Stanfield joins the Texas Woman's University Department of Athletics as the Sports Information Director.

"I think TWU is the perfect place for me to learn, grow and develop as a young professional," Stanfield said. "I can't imagine a better place to start my journey. Being an athlete myself, I have always been passionate and driven to work in an environment that believes in cultivating leaders on and off the court."

Originally from Florida, Stanfield pursued her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida. She graduated in May 2019 with her Bachelor of Science in Public Relations, with an outside concentration in Sports Management.

While pursuing her public relations degree, Stanfield served multiple roles with her sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., including Social Media Chair and Marketing and Community Relations. Additionally, she served as the Treasurer for University of Florida Club Volleyball.

She also served her community by volunteering at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, SEC Fan Fare, March of Dimes, and Stand Up 2 Cancer.

Stanfield also held sport relevant internships during her time at the University of Florida. For the Spring 2019 semester, she assisted Edward Waters University's athletic department as a Media Relations Intern. She worked with statistical software, coordinated media coverage and managed social media accounts for the athletic department.

From July 2018 to May 2019, she worked as a Program Assistant with the University of Florida Department of Recreational Sports. In this role, she supervised student-workers, planned recreational events and served as the liaison between participants and leadership.

After graduating from the University of Florida, Stanfield moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue her Master of Science in Sports Administration.

While in Atlanta, Stanfield continued to grow her experience in multiple athletic roles. For a year, she worked as a graduate assistant at The Galloway School. Her primary responsibility there was managing game day operations; nevertheless, she proactively volunteered for more tasks, including social media management and graphic creation.

Most recently, Stanfield worked as the Program Coordinator and Event Manager at Suwanee Sports Academy. While at Suwanee, she oversaw day-to-day operations of the facility, managed tournament set-up and operations and supervised all event staff.

"I am ecstatic to be adding Mikayla to the Pioneer family," Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Morgan Lair said. "Mikayla's passion for athletics and desire to serve student-athletes shines not only in her words, but even more so in her actions. Her commitment to growth, dynamic creativity and all-around positive spirit will help continue to lead our communications department into an exciting future."

In her first year with the Pioneers, Stanfield will serve as the primary contact for volleyball, wrestling, STUNT and softball.
