The other Javelinas' player who averages double-digits points is sophomore Mia Rivers, No. 10. A guard, Rivers averages 10.5 points per game, shooting .364 per game from the field, .313 from the three and .731 from the charity stripe. Rivers also ranks 13th in the nation in assists per game at 5.3. In their last game, Pena and Rivers led the scoring for TAMUK in the loss to Oklahoma Christian, scoring 13 and 10 respectively. In their win against UAFS, the Javelinas were led by sophomore guard Jayde Tschritter, who scored a career-high 27 points. Tschritter averages 9.7 ppg on the season.
- GUARD THE THREE: The Javelinas rank No. 1 in the LSC in team three point percentage, shooting .335 per game. Additionally, they rank number one in defending the three, holding their opponents to an average of .245 per game. When TAMUK is on fire from deep, they are a strong opponent. However, in their last two losses, they shot 23.8% from the three and against Oklahoma Christian 18.2% per game. Look for the Pioneers defense to be a strong, deciding factor in Thursday night's game.
- CRASH THE BOARDS: TAMUK ranks at the bottom of the LSC in combined team rebounds (15th) and team offensive rebounds (16th). On the other side, the Pioneers rank No. 9 in team rebounds with 38.6 boards per game and No. 8 in team offensive rebounds with 11.5 per game.
