ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (Nov. 25, 2023) – After the Thanksgiving break, the Texas Woman's basketball team returns to action on Saturday afternoon.
 
TWU (6-0) will play a non-conference game of the 2023-24 season against Henderson State (3-2) on the road on Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
Most recently, the Pioneers defeated Colorado School of Mines, 72-66, on Thursday, Nov. 16. On the other side, Henderson State last played on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and fell to Pittsburg State, 95-72.
 
The Pioneers will look to close out their opening non-conference schedule with a win.

THANKFUL

• FLASHBACK: The Pioneers and the Reddies have met five times previously. TWU is 3-2 all time against HSU. The Pioneers have won the last three straight meetings, including the only time the two teams met in Arkadelphia, Ark. Last season, the two teams met in Denton, Texas, and TWU won 75-66. In the game, the Reddies opened the first quarter with 24 points, but then were held to just eight in the second quarter. Ashley Ingram led the Pioneers with 21 points in the win.
• TURKEY TROT: TWU likes to get out and go with a quick pace of play. They average 71 points per game and are outscoring their opponents by an average of 10.8 points per game. From the field, the Pioneers are shooting 42.9%, and from the three points line, they are averaging 33.7%. On the other side, the Reddies are scoring an average of 79 points per game; however, this is 1.2 points less than their opponent on average. They are shooting 40.6% from the field and 37.3% from the three point line.
• PASS THE PLATE: TWU has been distributing the ball well. They average 12 assists per game and only 12 turnovers per game. The Reddies dish out 10.8 assists per game, but they average 16.5 turnovers. The assist to turnover margin will be key in today's game.
