SAN ANGELO, Texas (Feb. 15, 2023) – The Texas Woman's basketball team goes on the road after a week at home for a Lone Star Conference meeting with Angelo State.
TWU (23-1, 18-0) will meet Angelo State (20-5, 15-4) for the first and only time in the regular season.
The Pioneers currently rank first in the South Central Regional Poll and the Rambelles rank fourth, according to the
D2SIDA. Both teams were mentioned as under consideration on the
NCAA's first regional ranking list.
In the east division of the Lone Star Conference, TWU sits at No. 1. Angelo State, in the west division, ranks second behind Lubbock Christian.

SCOUTING THE RAMBELLES
- SEASON SPECS: ASU has lost four games in conference action. They have lost to Arkansas – Fort Smith, Cameron twice and West Texas A&M. The Rambelles recorded a win over Lubbock Christian on Feb. 2, breaking LCU's streak of 113 home wins. Most recently, ASU defeated Midwestern State on the road on Feb. 11, 76-61. The Rambelles are led by No. 32 forward Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant, who averages 16.3 points per game on 44.7% from the field and 36.5% from the three point line. Additionally, No. 10 Sawyer Lloyd (15.0), No. 11 Payton Brown (14.3), and No. 12 Madeline Stephens (13.6) are the other Rambelles to average double-digit points.
- A LOOK AT LAST GAME: Against Midwestern State, the Rambelles scored 33 points in the fourth quarter. They scored 34 points in the paint and 34 points off 25 Midwestern State turnovers. They also grabbed 16 offensive rebounds and scored 12 second-chance points. The Pioneers will need to crash the glass and protect the ball against the Rambelles.
- BACK IN TIME: The Pioneers have not won in San Angelo, TX since the 20012-13 season, 61-39. TWU last defeated the Rambelles at home in Denton during the 2021-22 season, 73-58. Last season, the Pioneers met ASU on the road on Jan. 15, 2022, and lost 83-66. The Pioneers were led in that game by Sadie Moyer with 15 points and Ashley Ingram with 14 points.
