AUSTIN, Texas (Feb. 18, 2023) – Texas Woman's softball ended day two of a three game series defeated by St. Edward's, 3-0.
Â
All is not lost as the Pioneers did win both games on Friday, Feb. 18. Game one ended 2-0, while the Pioneer closed out game two 3-2.  Â
Â
In game three, it was partly cloudy for the Pioneers who couldn't seem to find their defensive rhythm. In the first inning, the Hilltoppers managed to score two runs after a pair of stolen bases left the Pioneers vulnerable.
Â
The Hilltoppers quickly turned around in the bottom of the third and a double to right center allowed for an additional run on the board.
Â
The Pioneers struggled to find a hole in the Hilltoppers defense in the first three innings.
Kennedy Marlow found her way on base in the top of the fourth after hitting a single, and then advancing to second on a bunt.
Â
A grounder out to short stop from
Delaney Boley put Marlow in the perfect position to score at third base. The Hilltoppers threw a wrench in the Pioneers plan to have Marlow score the run, as
Alyssa LeBlanc (3-2) grounded out to the shortstop.Â
Â
The Pioneers introduced
Allison Gonzalez (0-1) to the circle. Gonzalez struck out two Hilltoppers and recorded an ERA of 3.00, after pitching a season high of six innings.
Â
Marlow,
Ciana Rodriguez, and
Missy Wise all registered one hit each.
Â
The Pioneers have a quick turn around and will be back home at Dianne Baker Field Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. against Texas A&M International.
