DENTON, Texas (July 26, 2023) – Texas Woman's University Athletics aims to empower women through the power of athletics, a mission that would not be possible today without the Pioneers who came before.
Those Pioneers, an integral foundation of all TWU's mission and goals, set a standard of excellence, service and leadership.
On Sept. 23, 2023, TWU will honor and formally celebrate three teams of Pioneers who embody the mission of TWU and whose strong foundation we all still stand on. TWU will induct the 1969, 1971 and 1973 Track and Field Teams into the
TWU Athletics Hall of Fame.
These three Track and Field teams each won National Championships and will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame as the Class of 2023 Teams of Distinction.

In 1969, the Pioneers won the Division for Girls' and Women's Sports (DGWS) National Championship. Two years later, in 1971, the Pioneers again claimed the DGWS National crown.
TWU once again took home the National Championship in 1973, when they won the 1973 Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) National Championship.
The 2023 TWU Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Sept. 23 in the Southwest Ballroom in Hubbard Hall on TWU's Denton Campus. The ceremony will include dinner, a presentation and the induction.
Prior to the Induction Ceremony, we invite everyone to join us at Pioneer Soccer Park to cheer on the Pioneers, as they play St. Edward's at 1 p.m.
Then, the Hall of Fame reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the dinner and ceremony at 6 p.m. To attend the dinner, you can register here:
